Funded by the CGIAR Challenge Program on Water and Food (CPWF), the Final Policy Workshop on “High-impact Interventions for Reducing Water-related Poverty in the Yellow River Basin” was held at the Grand Skylight CATIC Hotel in Beijing, from 6-7 May, 2010. This workshop was organized by the International Food Policy Research Institute (IFPRI), the Center for Chinese Agricultural Policy (CCAP), Chinese Academy of Sciences and the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign (UIUC). The participants were near 30, not only including the project collaborators from CPWF, IFPRI, CCAP, UIUC, Yellow River Conservancy Commission (YRCC), Beijing Normal University and Tsinghua University, but also including officials, researchers and journalist from Ministry of Water Resources(MWR), Tokyo Joggakkan College, Institute of Geographical Sciences and Natural Resources Research (IGSNRR), Chinese Academy of Sciences, Food Agricultural Organization (FAO), Chinese Academy of Agricultural Sciences(CAAS), China’s Institute of Water Resources & Hydropower Research (IWHR) and China Daily. The participants discussed the final project results on the relationship between water and poverty, water availability and the impacts of climate change, water productivity, water management, institutions and policy interventions in the Yellow River Basin. Finally, the participants also discussed the potential research areas on water in the future.
